Costruito su un erto monte, quasi uno sperone roccioso sulla sottostante valle del Panaro, l’insediamento di Iddiano è raccolto attorno alla chiesa di San Michele e all’imponente campanile, un tempo torre di vedetta. La storia di Iddiano è molto antica e legata alla chiesa fondata dai monaci di San Pietro di Modena che vi esercitarono piena giurisdizione ecclesiastica e civile. La massiccia torre nell’Ottocento fu adattata a campanile con l’apertura dei finestroni per la cella campanaria.

Built on a steep mountain, almost a rocky spur on the underlying Panaro valley, the village of Iddiano is gathered around the church of San Michele and the imposing bell tower, once a watchtower. The history of Iddiano is very ancient and tied to the church founded by the monks of San Pietro di Modena who exercised full ecclesiastical and civil jurisdiction there. In the 19th century the massive tower was adapted into a bell tower with the windows opening for the belfry.
