In un bosco, nascosta dagli alberi, si trovava una grande e buia caverna, nella quale viveva un drago dall’aspetto così spaventoso che nessuno aveva mai osato avvicinarsi. Un giorno due anziani contadini, che avevano ricevuto in eredità un pezzo di terra accanto alla grotta, si recarono lì per lavorare i loro terreni. A un tratto videro risplendere sette lamine di fuoco: erano le sette teste del drago! Quando capirono di cosa si trattava, si spaventarono e fuggirono a gambe levate. Il drago si era risvegliato e il bosco ormai era tutto illuminato: sembrava fosse scoppiato un incendio. Tutti accorsero sul posto e quando costatarono che il drago non era una leggenda tramandata di padre in figlio, ma esisteva realmente, fuggirono lontano, abbandonando le loro case, perché temevano che il drago li divorasse. Tutti speravano che il mostro prima o poi si riaddormentasse e così fu… un giorno gli abitanti del posto, fattisi coraggio, andarono di nuovo alla caverna armati, entrarono e riuscirono ad uccidere il drago addormentato. La pace e la tranquillità ritornarono in quei luoghi e gli abitanti ripresero la vita di sempre.

In a forest, hidden by trees, there was a large, dark cave, in which lived a dragon so terrifying in appearance that no one had ever dared to approach him. One day two elderly farmers, who had inherited a piece of land next to the cave, went there to work their lands. Suddenly they saw seven sheets of fire shine: they were the seven heads of the dragon! When they realized what it was they were frightened and ran away as fast as they could. The dragon had awakened and the forest was almost completely illuminated: it seemed as if a fire had broken out. Everyone rushed to the site and when they realized that the dragon wasn’t a legend passed down from father to son, but really existed, they fled far away, abandoning their homes, because they feared the dragon would eat them. Everyone hoped that sooner or later the monster would go back to sleep and so it did… one day the locals, plucking up courage, returned to the cave armed, entered, and managed to kill the sleeping dragon. Peace and tranquillity returned to the area, and the inhabitants resumed their normal lives.
