La Via delle Fiabe prosegue vergo la frazione di Gaiato. Presso il parco pubblico, su un ceppo di castagno, il viandante incontrerà una grande melagrana in ceramica raku, realizzata dallo scultore Giuseppe Modena. L’artista modenese ha interpretato la Leggenda della Campana e del suo tesoro, lavorando sulla simbologia della melagrana, simbolo d’abbondanza e prosperità, che richiama la leggendaria Grancontessa Matilde di Canossa, figura femminile di grande importanza nella storia del Medioevo europeo, spesso rappresentata con la melagrana.

The Via delle Fiabe continues towards the hamlet of Gaiato. From the locality of Cantone, on foot or by mountain bike, along the CAI path n.3 you reach the medieval tower of Gaiato. The tower is the last testimony of an important castle from the 1200s. It was built on the highest point of the territory in a singular conical shaped mountain from which the entire Scoltenna valley could be controlled. The Gaiato mountain (926 m a.s.l) is the highest point in the Municipality of Pavullo and, because of its visibility, it is without a doubt one of the most characteristic landscape forms of the entire Modena Appennines. The appearance is that of a gigantic pyramid that dominates a large part of the Panaro and Scoltenna valleys. At the foot of the stone giant, now partly ruined, a large pomegranate was placed, made with hundreds of circular tiles, differently worked, in glazed stoneware and fired with raku methods. A treasure supported by two sculptures representing the male and the female, made by the potter sculptor Giuseppe Modena.
The artist from Modena depicted the Leggenda della Campana (Legend of the Bell) and its treasure, working on the symbolism of the pomegranate, symbol of abundance and prosperity, which recalls, like the tower, the legendary Grancontessa Matilde di Canossa, female figure of great importance in the history of the European Middle Ages, often represented with the pomegranate.
