La strada sterrata che da Pavullo si inerpica sui boscosi colli a oriente verso Monteobizzo raggiunge l’abitato e la torre di Torricella. Il colle, per la sua posizione strategica di controllo del sottostante pianoro di Pavullo e della strada Modena-Pistoia che di qui transitava, fu fin dai tempi più remoti utilizzato a scopi di avvistamento. La torre venne eretta dalla famiglia guelfa Rastaldi-Montegarullo che da Roccapelago qui si trasferì nella seconda metà del XIII secolo e fu una delle roccaforti della fazione guelfa nella lotta contro il partito ghibellino dei Montecuccoli.

The unpaved road that from Pavullo climbs the wooded hills on the east towards Monteobizzo reaches the residential area and the Torre di Torricella. The hill, due to its strategic position to control the underlying plateau of Pavullo and the Modena-Pistoia road that passed through here, was used as a lookout since ancient times. The tower was built by the Guelph Rastaldi – Montegarullo family that moved here from Roccapelago in the second half of the 13th century and was one of the fortresses of the Guelphs faction in the fight against the Ghibelline party of the Montecuccoli.
